“The original intention was for Sylvie to develop my daughters skills after selecting French as one of her GCSE options, and at the same time for me to brush up on my very dated and poor O’level French knowledge. During this time Sylvie has taught us together or individually and has adapted lesson plans and approach depending on our progress at the time or key issues that have come to light through school for my daughter.
I am more than happy with the service that Sylvie has provided, having found her flexible, supportive, when necessary challenging and holding the key attribute of a great sense of humour.

“Sylvie has kindly taught French to my daughter for the past year and a half. Although she was quite confident already, my daughter has really enjoyed her lessons and her progress has been excellent (particularly her accent!). She will take her GCSEs this summer and was delighted with very high A* grades in all areas of the examination speaking, (listening, reading, writing) for the mock examinations in January. My daughter always looks forward to sessions with Sylvie and they are now preparing some work for my daughter's French A-level.

“Sylvie is an excellent teacher who has a good sense of humour and makes lessons fun. I would recommend her as a teacher for anyone, child or adult, beginner or advanced. It is great to learn from someone who is a native speaker but also has an in depth understanding of grammar and can explain things easily. She is also tolerant if I am a bit slow some weeks which is nice. One-to-one learning a language is so much better than a class and progress is much quicker. I also like learning a bit about another culture and way of seeing the world.”

“I highly recommend Sylvie as she has certainly got me on track with my French as I have always for some reason found French extremely difficult and our French teacher at school did not particularly understand if you did not grasp her explanation straight away.
Sylvie is extremely professional in her approach and at the same time makes you feel totally relaxed and has no problem with going at your pace however every so often especially in my case she will push me forward to the next step.
I am looking forward to going to France and being able to order drinks, ask directions etc without asking if they speak English and basically making an effort to talk in their language. My aim of course is become efficient with the language so that I can have a small conversation and eventually to become more confident and become fluent and I know Sylvie is certainly helping me achieve this goal.” Judi

“Being of an age when learning new things is an increasing challenge, I was very uncertain as to how I would cope with French lessons. However, I need not have worried. Right from the start, I felt reassured by Sylvie’s calm and patient manner, and cheered by her good humour. And with each passing lesson, which always involves an interesting range of learning activities, I feel increasingly confident to put aside the heavy burden of embarrassment I felt initially and to just give it a go!

Sylvie makes you work hard and keeps up a brisk and challenging pace in lessons and is always very constructive in her feedback. She makes you believe that you are making progress and will be able to master the French language.
